BIRMINGHAM, Ala., August 14, 2020 — Jennifer King, who is a current member of the Pumps & Systems Media team and has 20 years of publishing experience, will step up as Editor of the magazine, website, newsletters and other offerings starting Aug. 14.
Pumps & Systems Editor-in-Chief Alecia Archibald will be stepping down from her position after seven years at the head of the team.
“I am very excited about leading the Pumps & Systems Media team. My coworkers Amy Cash and Drew Champlin have a deep knowledge of the industries we work with, and a love for producing content that our readers want and need,” King said. “I look forward to working with them, and our sales team, to continue the tradition of providing educational material that is used by our readers as a reference for years to come.”
King has worked at various media outlets in Birmingham, Alabama, where Cahaba Media Group—which owns Pumps & Systems and two other media brands, HomeCare and Construction Business Owner—is located. Before coming to Pumps & Systems, she was the Managing Editor of seven business-to-business titles and has also worked at Bassmaster Magazine, Southern Living Magazine, and a group of weekly newspapers in Central New Jersey. She earned a master’s degree in magazine publishing from Medill at Northwestern University, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism at The Pennsylvania State University. She and her husband, Jermaine, live in Hoover, Alabama, with their three-year-old daughter, Penelope.
“The entire Cahaba Media team is thrilled that Jennifer is stepping up to meet this new challenge as Editor of Pumps & Systems,” said President & CEO Matthew Conroy. “I am confident in her skills to continue publishing quality content for our readers and lead the editorial team forward. I am also excited for Alecia’s new opportunities and thank her for her contributions and many years of service to the company. We’re happy she’s still going to be part of the CMG family as a Contributing Editor and excited for her and John’s adventure in Cambridge at Harvard University.”
Archibald will continue working for Cahaba Media Group on a consulting basis, working with the edit and sales teams on content marketing projects. She will also remain a Contributing Editor to Pumps & Systems Media.
During her tenure at Pumps & Systems, Archibald worked on the magazine, website, newsletters and more, in addition to spearheading the content marketing arm of Cahaba Media Group. Archibald is moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to attend classes at Harvard University during her husband’s Nieman Fellowship for select journalists for the 2020-21 academic year.
Prior to her leadership role at Pumps & Systems, Archibald worked for 22 years at The Birmingham News, now Alabama Media Group, as editor of numerous projects, leading a creative team for special sections, niche publications, books and more.
“It’s been a privilege to work with Jennifer and the rest of the pumps team at Cahaba Media Group,” Archibald said. “I have learned so much in the last seven years, and am thrilled to continue my collaboration with the company.”
